Vision systems for robotic guidance facilitate pick & place processes to quickly and accurately detect the position, shape and orientation of parts or products - for identification, sorting and packing operations.
Product quality assessment can also be included in the pick & place process where parts not meeting the quality criteria are not picked.
The vision system detects a part using shape-based object identification and the part’s position and angle are sent to the robot. The robot then picks the part and places it in the correct orientation.
This application is useful for highly automated lines where quality and process control are combined.
